SmileCon 2021

What to know about SmileCon, the ultimate dentistry convention

Groups with shared passions, interests and dreams have been holding conventions to celebrate their unifying factor for years.

Nintendo fans can attend E3, while comic book fans can throw on their favorite superhero cosplay and visit Comic-Con.

So, you may be asking, where can dentists go to enjoy a setting of shared love for their passion? The answer is simple: SmileCon.

SmileCon focuses less on the polishing of Iron Man suits and more on the polishing of teeth.

This year’s convention is being held in Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, from today, Oct. 11, through Oct. 13.

The Goals of SmileCon

One of the key goals of this year’s SmileCon is to reunite dentists from around the nation in a face-to-face setting.

Event organizers consider this to be especially needed, due to the lack of genuine connections and increased virtual meetings since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The highlights of SmileCon include a series of educational courses and presentations that tell the stories of experiences in the field or illustrate conversations about the practice.

For example, attendees can look forward to a presentation at SmileCon that focuses on offering advice on financial success for dental practitioners. After all, if you’re not staying successful financially, you can’t keep serving your patients, right?

This topic will be split up into three different presentations.

The first is a session on financial advisor services & retirement planning for ADA members, followed by a session that teaches dentists how to balance debt and secure practice financing.

Finally, it ends with a program regarding insurance protection from the ADA.

More than Lectures

There’s more to SmileCon than just presentations and lectures.

Those who attend SmileCon also get chance to check out and review a wide variety of new technology, one of the highlights of the event.

One of the key launches at SmileCon includes a new HD intraoral camera, produced by MouthWatch. According to DentistryToday, the MouthWatch Plus+ is capable of producing stunning 1080p image resolution.

Those attending the event have an opportunity to snag this technology at a great discount. The new camera can be purchased at SmileCon with a launch price of $999, while afterwords it can be listed for $1,199.

Bento, another technological giant in the dental industry, will be present as well.

Along with sharing their technology and network with dentists, they’re also set to host three sessions explaining the potential role that their products play in everyday practices.

Attending SmileCon In Person or Virtually

Everyone with a love for dentistry is encouraged to attend or follow the event.

If you’re interested but unable to attend in person, you can purchase a virtual pass to the event. This pass offers a behind-the-scenes look at the event and access to exclusive interviews with various speakers.

Students are also encouraged to follow the event, with certain registration options offered for cheaper prices for those enrolled in dental school.

SmileCon is attempting to guarantee safety for event attendants by asking that all visitors provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. If evidence of a vaccine cannot be provided, SmileCon organizers will also accept a COVID-19 test with a negative result within 48 hours of attendance to the convention.

If you are interested in learning more about SmileCon, be sure to follow the events of the convention online and keep your eyes peeled for updates as the event unfolds. If you would like to register to visit the event, virtually or in person, visit SmileCon.org.
